You can't ask for better conditions. The humidity was tolerable, 75 degrees, and the wind was ~5 mph. After an off week with only one real day of riding and that on the track, I was thinking that the TT would be a bust for me. But everything fell together with a good interval warmup, some stretching and great conditions.
I rode the first half conservatively, but quickly while reeling in several riders up the road. Then on the way back, the real work started. The riders were really spread out and I only had one rider left to feed off of. I caught him, but I couldn't shake him. It did help because we were maintaining a slower, but acceptable pace on the way back.
In the end, I had a 59:04 for 40K. That's only 8 seconds behind my PR from last year. Looks like I'm on track to surpass it with half the season gone.
I missed a 3rd among the Cat 3 riders by one second. I don't feel bad about it because I've been about 30 to 45 seconds behind Dan Cripe (Indiana Flyers) for the last few TT's.

It definitely hurt, but what a perfect day for a TT! The weather was sunny, warm (mid-70's), and dry with very little wind. It was great to see our team well-represented by Amy, Joe, Katherine, Lisa and our director sportif/expert photographer/race number pinning specialist, Todd Sr. Despite a 5th place finish in a field of only 6 women (40K in 1:11:10 = 21.1 mph), I was still satisfied with the result because my time improved by 5 minutes since last month's Kokomo TT. As an added bonus, I was able to walk and sit normally after the race was over. Congratulations to Lisa, Amy, and Katherine for their sweep of the women's category with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes!!!
