Short race with lots of crashes. In spite of feeling like I was going to hurl right before the start of the race, I felt pretty good throughout. Several crashes happened in corners 2 and 3. Apparently, going around corners was a new experience for many of the 3/4's. I heard enough pedals scraping on the turns to make my ears ring. With about 3 laps to go, I saw that Real Deal Tony was on the front of the pack and there was a small gap to a few guys who were off the front. I went to the front and started pulling to string things out and pull back the break. Caught the break and kept going, towing the field around with two laps to go, hoping to keep the field strung out so Tony would have a clean shot at the line (assuming he was just a few riders behind me. After the first turn on the final lap, the field started to come around me and I pretty much sat up. Apparently, Tony did the same. I jumped onto the tail end of the field and then got caught behind yet another crash in turn 3. I got back on and made my way to the finish line to avoid a DNF. Disappointing result, but glad to leave with all my skin and bike intact.
